10:30am - 2 Mile Walk, 5K Run
9am - Registration Begins, Skin Screening, Health & Wellness Expo Open
The Philadelphia Safe from the Sun event was started to honor the lives of melanoma patients and their families. It raises awareness that melanoma is not "just skin cancer." The Safe from the Sun Walk & 5K Run starts with the excitement of the Kids’ Dash kick-off, followed by the 2-mile walk, and 5K race that winds around Villanova’s beautiful campus. Other inside activities include our skin cancer screening by dermatology professionals, a kids’ corner filled with fun activities, and a diverse health & wellness expo. The event funds our family/patient hotline/email assistance and patient forum and allows us to spread our mission through effective education programs for all ages.
This year, in lieu of offering event t-shirts, we will be having a t-shirt contest! Each individual or team that creates their own t-shirt will be eligible to win great prizes. Also, in 2009, the 2K Walk will take place outside on Villanova’s campus (the inside track will still be available for inclement weather or individuals with special needs). Check back for more details, as well as a map of the race route.

** You may register on the day of the event. Please note that goody bags are only guaranteed to those that have pre-registered. See you Sunday!
